This week we has had a visitor staying with us. Harry a golden retriever is staying cos his humans on holiday so I has to entertain him!!

Harry is 11mths old and spent the first 7mths of his life kept locked in a kitchen all day. He was then rehomed cos he destroyed the kitchen. He only knows a few commands and was quite nervous when he arrived but he bouncing all over now!

I am expected to share my toys (cos that’s what good dogs do) but he has took therm all! Luckily he’s not a big chewer cos he carries my teddies around. He also chewed my antlers and hooves.

I have took him on my walks and met all my friends. He was very scared to begin with as the first dog he saw was Hetty a 10mth newfoundland- who is big and likes to jump on dogs and drag therm by their collar- and she pushed him in the canal.

He loves the water so have been to the river everyday!!!

He has also learnt to carry the lead and keeps trying to pull me along. I do it to other dogs but not too fun when it happens to you 😦

We has him for around 5more days then he goes back home. I think he’s had fun and mum says we might see him again! But when he’s gone I’ll get another friend!! I’m bit fed up tho as everyone asks if we is related and if harry is my dad!! I is older than him!! Pfft

coachies lick treat review

This week we have been given 2 coachies lick treats to review. There is 1 bacon flavour and 1 chicken flavour.

These have been provided for us by www.monsterpetsupplies.co.uk

What is it?

Coachies lick treats are a small bottle filled with chicken or bacon flavored syrup. At the top of the bottle there is a small ball that you lick. As you lick the ball rolls round so each lick there is always a tasty treat. The bottle does not leak unless you squeeze it hard without lid on. So pretty safe!!

What’s in the bottle?

Coachies lick treat contains around 500 licks per 50ml bottle. There is 1 calorie per 8licks.

Both flavours contain chicken, brewers yeast, glucose, green tea extract And vitamin E. The bacon flavour also contains natural bacon flavouring.

What can I use it for?

The bottle is perfect for putting in your pocket for a treat when out and about, it is also good for all types of training or situations where a quick and tasty reward is needed. It is silent so no more rustling packets during training sessions and disturbing dog.

We have been using for working on heelwork as the bottle fits in your hand well. We have also used for recall as the smell is very attractive to dogs.

Taste test

Smell

The smell is strong to begin with to the human nose but quickly becomes unnoticable. Both chicken and bacon smell is non- offensive and smells like most chicken or bacon flavoured items. The smell attracted the dogs as soon as lid was off- even Stella who was asleep. It cannot be smelled once the lid is on.

Taste

Lucy went mad when it came to being allowed to lick. We made her do a bit of training first tho!! Stella sniffed it but wasn’t sure what to do as she’s not a very licky dog.

Overall this is a great treat for a dog that likes licking and ideal for training dogs who get distracted by rustling of treat packets. Its also low calorie so good for longer sessions.

We give it 8/10.

We would like to see more flavours eventually. We knocked off a point as it isn’t suitable for dogs who aren’t naturally licky or unsure about licking.

daisy update

Daisy is nearly at the end of her fortnightly injections! Only 2 more to go!! She is up to 14kg but still needs a few more to go.

She back down to 1 walk a week again as was losing a lot of weight when she was on 3 walks but vet not know why still.

She on lots of food- more than me!! But still skinny. but she not allowed to run around much or play and she very grumpy and keeps stealing my toys and growling. Grrr

I am back!

I have been away for a while as mum lost my password and she been busy!

She has finished her old job so I no longer sleep in an office all morning while she does typing. I enjoyed it cos I with mum but was very boring… And the owner of office got a kitty kat 😦

Now mum has a new job! And I get to be with her all day. This job much more exciting as I have friends to play with…. Mum is a dog walker!!

I get to play with other dogs for a few hours. At the moment we know all the dogs so it very exciting but mum says new dogs that I dont know will be joining us. That sounds fun too but I hope they is nice to me and doesn’t eat my ball.

My sisters both been poorly so mum been backwards and forwards to vets all the time sorting them out. I’m good and sit patiently waiting for her to come back but sometimes she gone for a bit

November pupdate

Hello all.
It’s very cold over here so we got our winter coats out now.mum slipped on some ice this morning so I get to run offlead now and daisy on short lead. Stella refusing to go out bol!

image

We lost daisys coat on one of our long walks so mum has cut down one of stellas old ones and made it pretty. She also has a new green fleece for when it only bit cold

image

image

Stella has a new neon yellow coat which is fleece lined and also has a hoody for inside as the cold is getting to her legs causing her pain

image

She has also got a thundershirt which was great for the fireworks. Really calmed her down. She still bit jumpy with some of them

Sorry for delay

As you may have noticed I have not posted this month. This is due to either my typist being ill or my sister or me being poorly.

I have bad kennel cough at the moment so am having to stay inside causing trouble. Mum has got me new toys to keep me happy tho
A new giggly ball from spaniel Harry’s hemporium @spanielharry on twitter which is great fun. I also got a giggly dumbbell but I don’t really like that one

Will try to get on again before end of month

Woofs to you all

Poem of the week

A lovely poem for you all to enjoy

Why do you love me,dog? By Derek neville.

Why do you love me,dog? Said i
There were trees and fields beneath the sky
There was freedom for you to roam
Why do you come to me for home?
Why do you love me,dog?

Why do you love me dog? I said
As i stroked the hair of his shaggy head
We hunt the fox and kill the birds,
And though we talk-we waste our words
Why do you love me,dog?

Why do you love me,dog? Did you
Think man could make your dreams come true?
We burn and plunder, kill and maim
And yet you love us just the same,
Why do you love me,dog?

Why do you love me,dog, I pray?
Did Christ show you the truth, the way,
And bid you teach to foolish man
The secrets of the God heads plan?
Why do you love me,dog?

He made no answer; only raised
His ears to listen; only gazed
Up to my face with lifted paw,
As if something sacred saw-
That might have been his god.

Collar caddy review

week we are testing the collar caddy by pick it up.
http://www.pick-it-up.co.uk

image

It is a collar with 4special compartments allowing dogs to carry their own stuff.

We are testing the large size for dogs 20kg+ with neck 17″+.

image

What is included:
Collar caddy with high quality flat buckle collar.

image

2 x drinks bottles each holding around 1/3 glass of water.suitable for a normal walk but will need refilling or extra bottles if longer walk or warm weather.they have their own compartment in the caddy

image

image

10x disposable drinks trays to be used with the bottle for a drink.they unfold easily and can fit 1-2 in caddy but small enough for your pocket.will last 1walk but designed to be thrown away after

image

20x large good quality poo bags. Folded up ready to pop in caddy.fits 2-4 depending on other stuff being carried. Can also use your own if you fold them.

image

Emergency lead- lightweight nylon.tested on 26kg Labrador pulling towards food and is strong.fits neatly into compartment or in a pocket

Design
The large caddy is brown and gold so will fit in most dogs coloring without standing out too much.

The compartments are in 2 sections with a clip in middle that comes off to help.clean easily.the clip also helps caddy to bend and adjust to most dogs necks.

image

The caddy is easy to clean and will wash with warm water and dry easily.the collar is also washable.

The collar caddy can also be used with your own flat buckle collar as the collar supplied comes out easily and new collar slides in in 30secs.this allows dogs with a different neck size to the collar supplied can wear the caddy.below is our own collar

image

The compartments are not fully watertight if going swimming in river or heavy rain. It is recommended to have treats and drink trays in plastic bag.

image

Only small bag of treats can fit in compartment if carrying trays, bags and lead as well.slightly bigger bag or loose treats can fit in if not using both bottles or trays etc.

image

Took us a while to find a good way to fit everything in.we put a drinks tray and lead in one section.and pok bags and treats in the other side.this allows compartments to close properly.

image

An id tag can be attached to collar as normal and can also be written on in permanent marker on outside or a label.stuck inside in case of loss of dog.

image

I’m not bothered bout it round neck and have fallen asleep wearing it. It is not heavy or bulky and is curved so doesn’t dig in neck if I rest head on it

Pros
-Fits most dogs as can change collar
-Cleans quickly and easily
-Fits a lot of things in
-Not bulky or heavy

Cons
-Small waterbottles-need extra bottles on a bigger walk
-Although fits lots in, doesn’t fit more than 2-3poo bags and trays(some dogs do lots of poos)
-Not watertight in heavy rain or river(I like splashing in river)

Overall mum says she would buy another one and thinks it good quality item.
